RICHLAND MEET COMMENTS // Please share with swimmers 

After this meet in particular, I feel it very necessary to remind everyone about the importance of showing up for ALL of your events, not just for yourself, but for your teammates. This sport may often feel like an individual sport, but your performance and how you represent yourself affects our team's success. I understand that things may happen before and during a meet that may be out of your control, but these circumstances should be communicated to me before taking any action of your own. We had far too many missed events on Thursday, and if we had showed up and swam our best (whatever that may have been), I firmly believe the end result of the meet would have been very different. You owe it to everyone that's out on the pool deck late on a Thursday night to take ownership of your swims at EVERY race and EVERY meet. As a Stingray, your primary responsibility is to be respectful of yourself, your team, and this sport.

GOGGLES

I have seen a lot of swimmers having trouble with their goggles the past few weeks, and quite a few parents have asked me what kind of goggles they should get. In my experience and opinion, the most durable, easy to find, and best for competitive swimming have been the Speedo Vanquishers (mirrored are good to block out sun). They are usually $18-20, and you can find them in most sports stores that sell competitive swimming equipment. I know Dick's Sporting Goods has them. The mirrored ones will help for any swimmers swimming backstroke outside, so the sun doesn't get in their eyes. If they need to try on one of my pairs at practice for feel, they can!

MONDAY MORNING PRACTICE (7/2)

Just a reminder that Monday's practice schedule will be a "Meet Day Thursday" practice schedule, not a regular Monday practice schedule. Last regular season practice!
