Here's your email to clarify what County's about and what's going on over the next 2 weeks! Remember, the County practices are for the Top 100 (or Final Top 50) and our A relays, but the Carb Load Celebration is for everyone!

COUNTY PRACTICE SCHEDULE // for Thursday 7/5, Friday 7/6, and Monday 7/9 through Thursday, 7/12 (NO PRACTICE Wednesday, July 4th)

• 8:00 - 9:15 AM // 13 & Older Potential County Qualifiers + A Relays
• 9:15 - 10:15 AM // 9-10 and 11-12 Potential County Qualifiers + A Relays
• 10:15 - 11:00 AM // 8 & unders (including 6 & unders) Potential County Qualifiers + A Relays

FRIDAY, JULY 13 - CARB LOAD 2K18 COUNTY CELEBRATION

• Open for ALL Stingrays to attend (not just County Stingrays)
• 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon, we will eat around 11:00
• We will make posters, paint nails, and eat pasta + sides. Swimmers may bring markers and/or nail polish if they would like, and I will bring mine as well as posters.
• I will need volunteers to bring pasta dishes and/or healthy (simple) sides, and have unsurprisingly made a google sheet for it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Zf84jaJ7N6...

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD IS GOING TO COUNTY?

• The Top 50 swimmers in each event in the county get to participate in the County Meet July 14-15 at Georgia Tech. It is a very big honor to qualify, as Gwinnett County registers around 6500 kids every summer

• First Step: Check the latest "Top 75/100" document to be out by Tuesday morning. If your child is anywhere in the Top 100, they should continue to come to county practices. Here is the link to check: http://www.gwinnettswimleague.com/WeeklyMeetResults/index.html

• WHY TOP 100 AND NOT TOP 50? We ask that all the Top 100 swimmers come to practice because it is POSSIBLE, but not guaranteed that your child will be moved up in the rankings once each team sends their entries and kids drop because of vacations / multiple qualifying events, etc.

• Second Step: Are you available for county that weekend? If not, let me know ASAP. I will be making calls or sending emails to everyone on Tuesday in order to get positive confirmation and sending out reports this week for your eyes to check for your swimmers, so that there is no misunderstanding in this seeding. We can be FINED if we have a swimmer scratch once we send our entries in. This is a big deal, which is why I will be making sure you are available.
  • Here's the breakdown for the county meet by day and age group, FYI:
  • Saturday AM - 9/10
  • Saturday PM - 13/14 + 15-18
  • Sunday AM - 8 & Under + 6 & under
  • Sunday PM - 11/12

• Third Step: Is your child in the "A" Medley or Freestyle Relay for their age group? I will send a report out late Monday night after the results are in with the final list of "A" Relays. Relays are done by computer and are black and white in nature. The fastest 4 freestylers and the fastest combination of all 4 strokes according to best times will be our "A" Relays. These can change at any meet, so make sure your swimmer knows to swim their fastest on Monday! If someone cannot make it to county and your swimmer is needed to replace them, I will contact you for your child to attend county practices as well.


• FINAL TOP 50 // Any A Relay or Top 100 swimmers should attend county practices until the FINAL TOP 50 comes out. The coaches and I will receive the final Top 50 at the County Verification Meeting on Sunday, July 8thand I will send out an email that night with the qualifiers. We ask that only the final Top 50 attend county practices after that list has been sent out. All A Relays will continue to attend county practices.


• CAPS // This year, our county qualifiers will have NEON YELLOW caps! You will have no problem spotting them on the pool deck. We will give out caps AT THE COUNTY MEET because as much as I trust our Stingrays, I trust myself just a little bit more to not lose the caps beforehand.


• TICKETS // Tickets will be given out at the second week of county practices, so parents hound your kids for them so that they will not lose them. I will be able to let you know how many tickets you get after the verification meeting.
